How do you sketch realistic looking eyes and lips?

yea, well, i just recently started sketching, and i'm having a little bit of trouble drawing the lips and eyes, my main problem with the lips is the shading, and with the eyes is the iris and the eyelashes...any tips? How do you sketch realistic looking eyes and lips?
practice would be one time consuming necessity, along with basic outline and tones and shading,

One common myth in art is that you draw the object at hand.. try looking specificly at the SHAPE of the eye, and the shape of the lips etc. We have mental pre concieved ideas of what eyes and lips look like and so we tend to draw that.

One example is to take a picture and try to draw it, then take the same picture and look at it upside down when you try to draw it again. The one you draw looking at upsidedown is going to be more accurate than the first one.

The trick to realistic is measurments.. you can not measure enough, the distance between the two peaks of the lips, the distance between the upper and lower lip, the with of the mouth etc etc etc.

good luck!
well for the eyes make sortof a star burts thing aroundthe puple and shade by the nose and under the eyebroe and like all over then take ur eraser and erase a littl around the bottom eyelid

Try drawing light contour lines (top to bottom and slightly curved to give shape) on the lips and then smudging them slightly. I do the same with light iris's. Dark one's I just fill in but remembering to leave a space for light reflection on both.

I hope that helps, it's so hard to explain without showing someone ;o)
Imagination !
for the lips do some vertical shading really lightly. this means you can show the creases that everyone has in their lips. also don't give them any kind of outline.
