Red lips and smokey eye?

So I have a wine red colored, vintage-like prom dress and I was wondering if red lips and the smokey eye is too much for prom...


either that or red lips with simple liner and mascara...





what do you think? by the way prom is in 3 days so I need to figure this out ASAP. thanks.Red lips and smokey eye?
I'd go with one or the other. A red lip and a smokey eye are both dramatic make-up looks meant to draw attention to the lips and eyes. On your face, you only want to highlight one feature at a time.

A smokey eye CAN be paired with red lips if you do it right.. And prom is the perfect place to wear it, because the lights are dark and you need to wear make-up that stands out a little. Both red lips and smokey eye are such classics that you won't regret it come 20 years later when you're looking at your pictures.





You just need to keep the smokey eye subdued and not so harsh. It you put a champagne color on the lid and use a dark color on the crease and blend it, it's a lighter smokey eye and it's still hot without being too much with the red lips.

As a general rule, you should either play up your lips or your eyes. Smokey eyes and red lips are very dramatic likes within themselves so I would choose just one. Mrs. Lisle had a great idea, go for the red lip with eyeliner and mascara. That way you have definition around your eyes, but you have the dramatic look on your lips.
A smokey eye is good for all occasions. However, depending on the shade of your skin, etc, red lipstick might be a little overboard. Try it on and ask a friend?
well it i depends on what you want to pop out do you want your eyes or lips if eyes do smockeyand pale lips. For lips do red and put something simple but unique for the eyes.
Red lips only suit darker-skinned women. Besides, I heard you're only supposed to highlight one facial feature. So pick one, lips or eyes?
Only do one bold thing not two you will look like a clown no offense but you only want attention on one thing on your face I would do the eyes
Forget about the red lips.


If I were you, I wouldn't put anything on my lips, and just do the simple liner with mascara.
smokey eyes are more for nude lips.
dont go with the red, esp. if you have fairer skin...could easily make you look skanky.
